This old hay barn has had the woods grow up around it and it is just about totally gone and forgotten. I have such good memories of playing in this type of barns hay lofts as a child and then filling them with hay in my teen years.

I am thinking this is an Old horse drawn metal wheel Depth Adjustable Plow. It is near MO. NN on Route 66. The 'Mother Road' has a lot of these old history pieces that are just ignored. If you know please let me know???

Real Old Church with Bell Tower

This old church is west of Mt. Vernon, Mo. right on Route 66. Its old bell tower still has the bell in it used to call the neighbors to church. Route 66 was such a vibrate road with active towns before I-44 bypassed it and left it as a memory.

2 Dawgs House

Our friend in Avilla has a lot of old 'back in the days' items on his place. One of them is his 2 Dawgs House. He says every morning there is a few guys stop by here early and have some coffee and fix all the worlds problems. We might join them some morning.

Field Rack

Old Barn Loft Hay Lift

This photo is of an old Hay lift that once was used in the top of some barn on Route 66. The new owner preserved it and hung it in his yard.

Rusting Away on the Mother Road

These 2 old combines are parked in the woods off a country road around Red Oak, just off Route 66.

1926 Johnson Creek Bridge

This is a photo of the 1926 one lane bridge over the Johnson Creek as you enter the old town of Spencer. The actual old stretch of Route 66 concrete is still there. There is only one set of buildings still standing but they are in good condition and worth visiting.

Dot Mason's Log Cabin Station

On Route 66 near Halltown in the Missouri Ozarks sits Dot Mason's Log Cabin Station, which later served as as an auto sales building, and also a garage in 1944

Historic Halltown

Traveling west out of Springfield is the little village of Halltown. Once businesses lined this stretch of Route 66, now just the mostly empty shells. I love the way the old buildings had the tall, flat fronts. Built in store signs were painted there.

This old place is a cafe right on Route 66 in mid Springfield, Mo. I have been there many a time. If you come to town maybe stop by and have a bite to eat, on the 'Road'..

The Rockwood Court and Cafe opened it's doors in 1929. In 1969 the restaurant renamed itself Ginny Lee's until 2009 and then reverted back to the Rockwood.

This is part of the old buildings on Route 66 in Halltown, Missouri. This little town was busy during the heyday when the 'Road' was going strong. Most of the old shops are closed and boarded up. A while back someone came in and made this a wedding chapel. What a good idea, if you are a 'Mother Roadie' and need to get married this is your place.

Right across the 'Road' from the rock house pic below is this rock building. It is gutted and roofless. It was an old casket factory decades ago and then served as a furniture store. That is Route 66 right in the foreground.

This old rock building is about 8 miles west of Springfield. This building is a former Tydol service station and Garage. It is now a home. They don't make em' like that anymore.

These old service station remnants stand alone right on Route 66 along the beautiful Missouri Ozarks section of road. They remind us of days gone by. I can only imagine the number of people that has tried to buy these.

I remember when this old garage was a service station. They have since added on a few work bays and brought it back into use. Glad they didn't take down the old gas sign. This is out by Barnes store west of Springfield.

This old home place is about 4 miles west of Springfield. It sits maybe 50 feet of the 'Road'. I'd say it was a nice lookin' place many years ago with its small front porch and fireplace. Notice the big oak tree shading the house.

This old windmill sits with its rock pump house and cattle water trough. It hasn't been used as long as I remember, but was really a nice setup in its day. The trees always grow around the good ole' wells.

It was such a bright sunny day I decided to take my camera on my trip to the feed store. The 'Road' was not busy at all today. I actually just stopped in the road, got out and snapped a few. Hope you enjoy them.

This old covered silo was just about 1/2 mile west of Springfield, setting on maybe 5 acres of brush surrounded by high dollar homes. It refuses to give up!

This is a picture of an old milk can wagon. After milking their cow(s) the dairy farmer would put 2 cans of milk on this wagon and pull it to the house or wherever it needed to go.
